Make the run-up to Christmas extra special with a homemade advent calendar! This sustainable DIY-advent calendar is not only a great eye-catcher, but also offers plenty of space for individual surprises. Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of crafting and experience how much fun it can be to create something of your own.
Step-by-step instructions: advent calendar made from cardboard rolls

Step 1: Preparing the folded sheets

Cut 24 folded sheets to a width of 10 cm each. These folded sheets form the decorative cover for the cardboard rolls that you will use later. Make sure you cut even strips so that the calendar has a harmonious overall look.

Step 2: Stick on the cardboard rolls

Stick a piece of double-sided tape adhesive tape. to each short side of the back of a folded sheet and stick it all around 24 empty cardboard rolls. The folded sheets ensure that the cardboard rolls look decorative later and that the calendar numbers can stand out.

Step 3: Connect the cardboard rolls

Arrange the cardboard rolls so that they hang under each other later. If you don't have a stapler to hand, you can alternatively use hot glue to securely fasten the rolls together. Secure connections are important to ensure that your advent calendar remains stable.

Step 4: Attach the crepe paper strips

Cut crêpepaper into strips about 15 cm long. Stick double-sided adhesive tape. to the inside of the open ends of the cardboard rolls and attach the crepe paper strips there. Repeat this process for all the rolls. The crepe paper strips serve to close the cardboard rolls in an attractive way and conceal the contents.

Step 5: Paint advent numbers

Use black acrylic paint to paint the advent numbers from 1 to 24. Allow the paint to dry well before continuing. As soon as the numbers are dry, stick them to the front of the cardboard rolls with hot glue. The numbers give your advent calendar the classic countdown charm.

Step 6: Create the hanging device

Cut six pieces of glitter cord of the same length and braid them into a strand. Attach this to the back of the first cardboard roll. with hot glue. The glitter cord not only provides a hanging loop, but also gives your calendar a festive look.

Step 7: Fill advent calendar

Now comes the exciting part: the filling. You can fill the cardboard rolls with little surprises and sweets as you wish. Finally, cut another piece of glitter cord and use it to tie the ends of the crepe paper. This secures the contents and ends your creative process.

You have done it! Your personalized advent calendar is ready to bring joy to the Advent season.
