With this simple casting technique, you can make decorative shells from casting slip - ideal as a decorative element or for further decoration.

Once dry, the finished shells can be painted, varnished or decorated in other ways.

It's so easy to make the shells:

Material requirements:

VBS Silicone full mold "sea shell" large→ approx. 8 heaped tablespoons of KeraHobby
VBS Silicone full mold "sea shell" small→ approx. 4 heaped tablespoons of KeraHobby

Mix the casting compound
Pour the required amount of KeraHobby casting powder into a mixing cup and gradually add water. Stir the mixture thoroughly until it has an even, creamy consistency.

Fill the mold
Carefully pour the mixed casting compound into the silicone casting mold. Make sure that the mold is completely filled.

Avoid air bubbles
Tap the filled mold lightly on the work surface several times so that trapped air bubbles can escape. Do not lift the mold to avoid spilling.

Leave to harden
After about 3 hours, you can carefully remove the castings from the silicone mould .

Drying and finishing
Allow the cast shells to dry completely. Any rough edges can be carefully smoothed with a fine sandpaper .
