Crocheted sea animals as coasters
Instructions No. 2784In our tutorial we show you a beautiful inspiration for adorable crocheted coasters. The cute sea creatures also cut a cute figure as a cuddly toy for the little ones or as a decoration in your own four walls. In combination with the book "Crochet - The Standard Work" you will easily succeed with the crocheted friends.
In the following we refer to the book "Crochet - The Standard Work" and will refer you to it in places in the instructions.
Air stitch: Take the cover and pull the yarn through the loop.
Chain stitch: Insert the needle into the stitch, take the cover and pull the yarn through the two loops.
Double crochet: Take a cover, insert the needle into the stitch, get the yarn through the stitch. This way you have 3 loops on the needle. Take a yo and pull through the first two loops, take a yo again and pull through the next two loops.
Crochet the body
This consists of a circular area made of air stitches, double crochet stitches and chain stitches. Crochet 7 rounds:
1) At the beginning, form an initial loop from the yarn: double the end of the yarn, form a "little pretzel", pass the crochet hook through, pull the yarn through and tighten. Crochet 5 air stitches. Then go into the first air stitch with the needle and crochet a chain stitch, thus creating a circle.
3) 2nd round: Crochet two air stitches to come to the height of the sticks. Crochet a total of 22 sts in this round. Crochet 2 stitches in one stitch. End the round with a chain stitch.
5) 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th round: Crochet two air stitches to come to the height of the bars. Crochet +10 sticks per round. Always start with 2 stitches in a stitch and increase the single stitches per round. That means: 2 single sticks in the 4th round, 3 single sticks in the 5th round, 4 single sticks in the 6th round and 5 single sticks in the 7th round. End the rounds with a sl st.
Legs turtle & crab claw
Octopus arms (sticks)
Crochet 20 + 1 air stitches. +1 is used to come to the height of the chopstick. As with the body, crochet half crochet stitches: take 1 yo, slip through the stitch, pull the thread through so that there are 3 loops on the crochet hook. Then pull the thread through all 3 loops to form a new stitch. Repeat until 2 rows are crocheted.
Crochet 20 + 1 air stitches. +1 is used to get to the height. Take 1 yo, slip through the stitch, pull the thread through so that there are 3 loops on the crochet hook. Then pull the yarn through all 3 loops to form a new stitch. Crochet 2 rows.
Arms crab (crochet stitch)
Crochet 6 + 1 air stitch. +1 is used to come to the height. Take 1 yo, slip through the stitch, pull the thread through so that there are 3 loops on the crochet hook. Then pull the yarn through all 3 loops to form a new stitch. Crochet 2 rows.
Crochet 4 rounds as described above for the "body". To achieve a crocheted ball (head), now crochet off stitches in the next 4 rounds:
In the 5th round every 3rd stitch is crocheted off: crochet 2 stitches, then crochet the next 2 stitches together (first crochet both stitches, then crochet the "upper" 3 stitches to 1 stitch), repeat until end of round.
In the 6th round every 2nd stitch is crochet off: crochet 1 stitch, then crochet the next two stitches together, repeat until the end of the round.
Finally, sew together all the individual parts that belong together, glue on little wiggly eyes.
