DIY Clay Ornaments with Nature Motifs – Simple and Creative

Crafting is becoming increasingly popular, especially when the finished pieces are lovingly self-made. Today, I will show you how easy it is to create unique and enchanting clay ornaments. This guide is perfect for both children and adults. Whether you use flowers, herbs, grasses, or leaves, the result will always be a unique piece.

It is also ideal for the cold season, as pine greenery can be just as well processed. Let your creativity run wild and give your decoration a very personal touch!

First, it is important to choose a suitable flexible surface, as the clay is quite moist while working. Parchment paper is excellent because the clay will easily come off it later.

Take a small amount of modeling clay from the package and knead it thoroughly. Make sure that any unused clay is stored airtight, as it dries quickly and becomes crumbly. If that happens, you can knead in a little water to make the clay pliable again.

Then roll out the clay. Consider the size of your collected flowers or leaves – the thicker the plant part, the thicker the clay layer should be. Mark the area for the ornament by gently pressing in with a cutter. Then place the plant pieces on the clay and roll them in. Make sure they do not overlap.

If you are happy with the pattern, cut out the ornament with the previously used cutter. Use a drinking straw to make a hole for hanging. If you lightly twist the straw, the clay will adhere to it, and it will be easier to remove.

If plant parts stick out, carefully trim them and smooth any rough edges. Let the ornaments dry for several days until they are fully hardened.

Once the ornaments are completely dry, you can attach a ribbon, and your personalized decoration or gift ornaments are ready to use.
