Step 1: Prepare and transfer the template

Print out the police car template and carefully cut out all the parts. Don't forget the windows!
Place the cut-out template on the dark blue coloured paper and trace the outlines. Cut out the parts you have drawn.
Repeat this process to cut out both sides of the police car. This will give you the front and rear sides of your lantern.

Step 2: Connecting the car parts

Cut out a rectangular piece from the dark blue coloured paper to join the two sides of the car that you have previously worked on.
Make sure that you leave a narrow strip on the sides of the rectangle, which will be folded in later. These strips will serve as adhesive surfaces to secure the rectangle firmly between the two car parts.

Step 3: Add windows and details

Cut out matching pieces from vellum paper and stick them behind the cut-out windows and the windshield of the police car to create a glowing effect.
Cut out the "POLIZEI" lettering twice from the template and stick it to the sides of the car on the dark blue coloured paper.

Step 4: Assembling the car lantern

Attach the prepared car sides to the lantern blank. To do this, glue the previously cut coloured paper-rectangles and window elements securely in place.
Cut out four circular tires from black craft cardboard sheet and glue them to the sides of your lantern to complete the realistic look of a car.

Step 5: Attach the blue lights

Now decorate the roof of the lantern: Glue four magnets to the underside of the "car roof."
Glue another four to the underside of the blue lights. Now the blue lights are detachable and hold well.

Step 6: Attach the lantern bracket

Use the awl to drill two small holes in the top of the "ceiling" of the car lantern.
Thread the lantern bracket through them and attach it firmly so that the lantern can be carried securely.
