Step 1: Preparing the cotton wool
Gently pull the cotton wool apart. This ensures that your owl will look nice and fluffy later and gives it a unique look.
Step 2: Stuff the cotton wool into the pine cone
Take the cotton wool and stuff it between the scales of the pine cone. Make sure that the pine cone is well covered. Tip: Use tweezers to make it easier to push the cotton wool into the small gaps.
Step 3: Transfer the template to the felting
Print out the template for the angel wings. On the template, you will find the shapes for the eyes, the beak, a large and a small angel wing and the feather strip. Transfer all of these shapes - eyes, beak, angel wings and the feather strip - onto the craft felt. Make sure you choose the right colours. Draw the outlines carefully onto the felt fabric and then cut out the shapes neatly.
Step 4: Attach the feathers
To create the angel wings with feathers, first cut out several feather strips from white craft felt. Each sheet on the feather strip represents a single feather tip. Now place one of these cut-out feather strips on the lower part of an angel wing and cut it so that it covers the entire lower part of the wing. Then glue the strip onto the angel wings. Now place another feather strip on top so that it overlaps half of the strip underneath. This creates a beautiful, scale-like pattern. Cut this strip to size and glue it in place. Repeat this process until the entire angel wings are covered with overlapping feathers.
Step 5: Fitting the angel wings
Once the wing is completely covered with feathers and the glue is completely dry, turn the angel wings over and cut off the excess feathers. This gives the edge a clean finish.
Step 6: Attach the angel wings and head
Attach the prepared angel wings to the pine cone with hot glue so that the owl takes shape. Press everything firmly and allow the glue to harden.
Step 7: Button as a base
Give your owl stability by attaching a button at the bottom as a stand. This will ensure that it stands securely and can be placed anywhere.
