Finding the perfect gift wrapping can be just as challenging as choosing the actual gift. With these creative instructions for decorating terracotta-jars, you can not only only safely store your treats - be it cookies, chocolates or other delicacies - but also package them in style. Thanks to the robust structure of the pots, the contents are optimally protected. Let's put this unique gift idea into practice together!
Step 1: Paint the clay pots and hearts
First, paint the clay pots and the small hearts with your favorite paint. You can either use pure shades of color or mix different tones to create an individual look. A primer coat may not be completely opaque at first, but it forms the basis for an even color result.
Once the paint is completely dry, you can let your creativity run wild and apply more patterns. A stitching pattern works well for this project, but small hearts, flowers or other Valentine's Day motifs are also a nice choice. For a sparkling finish, you can decorate the clay pots with glitter. Simply apply some handicraft glue , spread it and sprinkle the affected areas with glitter.
Step 2: Attach the hearts
Attach a heart below the rim of the terracotta-pot with a small dab of hot glue. Then place a sisal cord around the back of the pot and secure it with hot glue too. Attach the second heart on the opposite side in the same way, but wrap the cord around the pot in the opposite direction.
If you like, you can attach a bow above the cord . To do this, cut a piece of sisal cord to the appropriate length, tie the bow and, if necessary, fix it with a little hot glue so that it keeps its shape.
Final design
Your decorated clay pots are now ready to be filled. Whether you want to fill them with sweets or plants, you have various options: Fill the heart bags with treats or use them to place a plant securely in the pot. If you opt for flowers, seal the drainage hole of the pot with hot glue and apply a waterproof glaze to prevent seepage.
